Solar Integration & Interconnection

NABCEP-certified solar system design, utility interconnection with Public Service Company of Colorado, and microgrid integration for homes and businesses.

What We Do

We don't install solar panels ourselves—we partner with specialized solar contractors. But we design the electrical infrastructure that makes solar work: the interconnection to your home's panel, utility grid synchronization, and integration with battery backup and smart energy management.

Design Services

System Sizing: Based on your audit and roof availability, we calculate optimal system size (typically 5–15 kW for residential).

Electrical Design: Breakers, disconnects, surge protection, grounding, and inverter selection (string, hybrid, or microinverter).

Utility Interconnection: We handle the engineering sign-off and permit applications with Public Service Company of Colorado (PSCo) and the City of Boulder's building department.

Net Metering Documentation: Colorado allows residential solar owners to export excess power to the grid and receive bill credits (net metering). We provide all required documentation.

Microgrid Integration

If you're combining solar + battery, we design the microgrid architecture so the battery charges from solar during the day, stores that energy, and powers your home at night or during grid outages. This requires careful DC and AC integration.

Permitting & Interconnection

Boulder County and Public Service Company of Colorado each have specific interconnection standards.

  • City Permits: Electrical and structural approvals, typically 2–3 weeks.
  • PSCo Interconnection: Utility review and approval, typically 4–6 weeks. They verify grid stability and send a technician to install a bi-directional meter.
  • Net Metering Enrollment: Once interconnected, you enroll in net metering and begin receiving credits for excess generation.
